The Invisalign® system works by using a series of clear, plastic aligners that fit over the teeth rather than wires and metal band cemented to them. Dr. Villar will create your Invisalign® appliances by taking a mold of your teeth and then analyzing it using advanced computer software. The plastic aligners will then be designed to move your teeth by small increments from their initial positions to their perfectly-aligned destinations. Each Invisalign® aligner will be worn for 24 hours a day for about two weeks, after which the next aligner in the series will be worn, and so on.

For these people, Dr. Villar offers treatment with traditional orthodontics at his office in Santa Clarita and near the San Fernando Valley. Braces, whether metal or clear, have many benefits, especially for younger patients whose adult teeth have grown into their mouths in less-than-ideal arrangements. Dr. Villar helps his patients choose their treatments by comparing and contrasting the benefits of each of the various techniques that have been developed in the field of orthodontics.
Braces can be customized to correct a wide variety of problems — including overbites, underbites, and crooked teeth — but in general they involve cementing bands or bonding brackets to the teeth and then connecting them all with a thin, somewhat springy metal wire. This wire then exerts force on each tooth. Dr. Villar uses a new system of brackets that are custom-crafted and designed to meet the needs of each individual tooth so that the optimum result can be obtained in a shorter amount of time. Depending on how the bracket or band is made and attached, the force can be used to move each tooth in the jaw or rotate it in place. Force can also be applied by means of rubber bands and headgear appliances that attach to the braces. Dr. Villar can bring about beautiful results using either metal or clear braces.
