Tooth Loss & Dental Implants
Many people think that once they experience tooth loss, they either have to live with uncomfortable dentures, an embarrassing smile or pain. Even when they hear about dental implants, they might have heard some things that may not be true.
Some Common Misinormation About Dental Implants:
- Dental implants are painful. Your unique situation, ability to heal and Dr. Villar’s skill will determine the pain (if any).
- Dental implants cost a fortune. Dental implants don’t cost much more than the average multi-tooth bridge. Plus, bridges have to be replaced eventually while your dental implants will probably never have to be replaced.
- Dental implants take a long time. Dental implants usually take between 2 to 4 months on average The time definitely varies from person to person.
Dr. Villar gives each patient time to heal and temporary teeth for every day life until the process is completed.
"My teeth were pretty far gone. I had bad teeth from the start so I’m thinking I gotta live with this. Dr. Villar said, ‘Not true. Get dental implants.’ I’m 67 and it’s the best thing I did for myself. I can eat steak!" – Jerry Stampler
What are Dental Implants?
A dental implant consists of an artificial tooth with a root, a post and a crown. The root is placed in the jaw and allowed to heal. Once the healing is completed (anywhere from three to six months), the post and crown are added to allow the implant to function just like a real tooth.
Dental implants can be brushed and flossed just like real teeth! Dr. Villar performs the procedure for dental implants in his office under safe sedation. The team is there to support the patient through the entire procedure and to follow up for aftercare.
Get Your Smile Back
Dr. Villar wants people to know that they can get their smile back with dental implants. In the hands of a skilled craftsman, dental implants will look and function like high-functioning teeth. Some people may only need one or two teeth replaced. Others may need their whole smile restored.
